About Barb

Barb Langlois, British Columbia Speaker on Leadership, Health & WellnessBarb Langlois has more than 20 years of experience leading groups, teams and individuals. As a nurse she has worked in acute care, academia, the community and on a cruise ship. She began her leadership focus at 25 years old as the Assistant Head Nurse of an open heart surgical unit. Since then she has led many teams, groups and individuals to improve their own leadership, communication and most recently speaking and presentation skills.

She has enjoyed roles of staff nurse, educator, instructor and manager in Canada and the US. In her first year as manager, Barb was nominated for a prestigious “Above and Beyond” award for her work with teams. When she was on the leadership path she always dreamed of, managing a multi-million dollar budget and 500 employees, she found her life to be out of integrity. Not knowing why, she resigned. People told her she was crazy, she agreed. Since then however, Barb has focused on becoming an authentic leader.

Barb LangloisShe embarked on finding out what was stopping her from living her dream. She interviewed people who were living their dreams: a world champion of public speaking, world master fire-walking instructor/self-made millionaire, best-selling author and model turned pilot. The valuable information they provided has been distilled into a 2-CD set Ordinary People Doing ExtraOrdinary Things.”

She pursued leadership from a different angle, working with organizational gurus to become certified in Clear Leadership, Power and Systems and Managing Transitions. Barb routinely runs these multi-day workshops for leaders. She has participated in numerous intensive personal development seminars: Landmark, Peak Potentials, Embodied Leadership, Fire Walking Institute of Research and Education, Harmonic Wealth and has been coached extensively on gaining awareness and control of her own mind. To further manage her own mind chatter and fears, Barb walked on fire 108 times (in one evening) as part of the process of becoming a certified fire-walking instructor.

Barb Langlois, Professional Speaker, BC CanadaBarb’s articles on mental wellness have been published in professional nursing journals: September issue of Nursing 2009 and November 2009 issue of Nursing Management. She is also highlighted as a contributing author for her feature article in the October 2010 issue of Alive, a Canadian Health and Wellness magazine.

Barb has addressed audiences and groups at the Canadian Nurses Association Leadership Conference, Canadian Nurses Association Biennial Conference, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, BC Nurses Operating Room Nurses Group, Fraser Health Authority, Providence Healthcare, Xi Eta Honour Society, and Soroptimist Group. Her keynotes and workshops are engaging, dynamic and filled with resources for everyday life.
